I approach every patient as an individual and work to not only find a patient’s pain, but further evaluate to find the root cause of it. The location of a patient’s pain is not always the primary issue, and can often be a symptom of something more far reaching. Every patient is evaluated with a thorough history taking, plus physical and orthopedic examination to find a diagnosis specific to that patient. Each patient is given a report of findings specific to their diagnosis, explaining the cause of their pain, why it may have occurred along with a plan of management to help the problem. Typical management includes, but is not limited to, soft tissue work (ART), medical acupuncture, spinal manipulation, shockwave therapy, low level laser therapy and at home rehab/prehab exercises. No two patients are alike, and even if they share a similar diagnosis the management is specific for each individual.
I utilize much more than the traditional chiropractic manipulation of the spine that we chiropractors are so commonly known for. I have advanced training in Active Release Techniques (ART), Medical Acupuncture and Advanced Concussion Management skills. Corrective rehab exercises are commonly prescribed for many of my patients. Patients play an integral part in their healing, and as such they are involved and encouraged to participate in the care and resolution of their injury. Once out of pain, patients are often left with an at home rehabilitation program to help prevent further injury recurrence.
I am in the midst of the chiropractic Sports Sciences Residency Program (SSRP) facilitated by the Royal College of Chiropractic Sports Sciences (RCCSS). Concurrently with the SSRP I completed a Masters at the University of Guelph with a focus on central sensitization and neurogenic inflammation (pain). Advanced imaging, high-performance athlete evaluation, sport nutrition, sport psychology, research publication and hospital rounds are just a few of the areas that I will have advanced experience in throughout this sports sciences residency.
Growing up I was always a high-performance athlete, and as such have an affinity for treating elite level athletes. I have experience treating cyclists, runners, hockey players, race car drivers, triathletes, soccer players, cheerleaders and most recently skateboarders. I was fortunate to travel to Paris for the 2024 Olympics with Canada Skateboard and hope to continue my journey with their top athletes for the next four years leading up to the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
